Requirements for Power of Attorney (Wekilina) and Other Document Authentication

  • To give Power of Attorney and all other documents originating in the United States (Such as Power of Attorney, Adoption, Trade Mark, Property Rights, Court Decisions, Birth Certificates, Marriage or Divorce Certificates, etc) must be authenticated by your State Office and then by Department of State prior to applying to the Embassy.
  • All documents originating in Ethiopia should be authenticated by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
  • All applications must be sent via mail with an envelope which has a TRACKING NUMBER. The applications must also have a self-addressed, prepaid UPS, or USPS EXPRESS MAIL return envelope which has a tracking Number. You don’t have to call the Embassy to check whether your application has been received or returned back to you since you have the option to track it online at the respective mailing company’s website.
  1. Power of Attorney and Document Authentication (such as       Certificate of Education, Birth, Marriage, Driving License, etc.) Service

  • Power of Attorney and document authentication, your document(s) should be notarized by public notary and authenticated by the Service Province Office (Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan) in which the applicant is residing. For applicants residing in provinces and territories Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut Prince Edward Island and Yukon document authentication should be handled by Global Affairs Canada.
  • For holders of valid Ethiopian passport, attach copy of the passport with copy of a Permanent Resident card. For holders of Valid Ethiopian origin ID Card, attach the copy of your Ethiopian origin ID Card. Service fee $62 USD (United State Dollar ) for power of attorney or $59 USD (United State Dollar ) per document for authentication payable to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Money Order
  • For those who don’t have valid Ethiopian Passport or Ethiopian origin ID Card and for Other Nationals attach a valid passport or PR copy. Service fee $95 USD (United State Dollar ) for power of attorney or $90 USD (United State Dollar ) per document for authentication payable to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Money Order
  • A completed application form Click here to download the Application Form.
  • A self-addressed return envelope which has a tracking number (UPS, or USPS EXPRESS MAIL) with it.

  • For holders of valid Ethiopian passport or Valid Ethiopian origin ID Card Service fee of $62 USD (United State Dollar ) payable to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Money Order
  • For those who don’t have valid Ethiopian Passport or Ethiopian origin ID Card and for Other Nationals Service fee of $95 USD (United State Dollar ) payable to the Embassy of Ethiopia in Money Order
