Prime Minister Hailemariam Dessalegn has received over 20-member Swedish Parliament delegation at his office where the two sides shared views on the current economic growth in Ethiopia and democratization process.
During the bilateral talks, the visiting Swedish delegation received briefings about promising gains in the economy and democracy building sectors in Ethiopia.
Prime Minister Hailemariam talked about the various joint meetings with a range of legally operating political party members in the country.
According to a higher government official who attended the talks, Hailemariam spoke on the big role of the Swedish delegation in strengthening the bilateral relations between the two nations.
The Premier also urged the Swedish delegation led by Deputy Chairman, Ulf Kristersson to work for the betterment of the longstanding Ethio-Swedish relation.
“We are impressed with the economic growth Ethiopia has registered,” the Deputy Chairman of the Swedish Parliament, Ulf Kristersson said following the bilateral meeting with Ethiopia’s Prime Minister.
“We have discussed on current economic and democratization issues in Ethiopia, we are looking for how to develop commodity trade in Ethiopia,” Kristersson added.
The Deputy Chairman also promised that his members would work hard on ways of strengthening the bilateral ties including in areas of democracy building.
Sweden has recently extended 140 million Swedish Kroner to support victims of the El Nino induced drought in Ethiopia. It was back in 1954 that Ethiopia and Sweden established their diplomatic relation.
